Olsen Twin Doll ASHLEY OOAK Project

I’ve finally succumbed to adding an Olsen Twin to my collection….

My excuse up till now has been the neck size…but I made it fit a Barbie Fashionistas articulated body!

She looked quite daggy on her original body but is already looking Olsen glam with just a body swap. I’m really starting to fall in love with her face mould.

Here she is in a classic LBD photo shoot before I start to mod her face. Dress is from Barbie Basics doll line.

I’ve now repainted my Olsen Twin doll…I now present Ashley Olsen in an emo-harajuku-Olsen inspired outfit featuring Hello Kitty. If Ashley would ever wear Hello Kitty (but probably not)…I presume that this is is what she would look like (or maybe not)…but this was lots of fun anyway ;o)

Dress is from HELLO KITTY BARBIE #24251 (1999). Jacket is from My Scene. Shoes are Barbie. Other various accessories are random stuff from my private collection.

I’ve wanted to do a grown-up version of the Olsen twins for a while now…but every time I get the chance as an Olsen doll goes through my hands only to be sold I’ve asked myself WHY? Sure I watched Full House as a kid…but I was much older than the Olsen twins and was not part of the generation that really grew up with them through the movies, books & magazines in the child-teenage-stars they were to become after Full House. So I did a bit a research online to find that many people found the twins fascinating for various reasons…but I think the main reason is that not only is it impressive that any child star manages to not fade into obscurity once they have grown up , but that the twins have become fashion icons unlike any other. In an era of scantily clad skinny blondes competing for media attention with winsome smiles and plunging necklines…the twins have done the opposite. Their fashion style with its ofttimes masterful layering seems to cover up as much skin as possible while still having a few hints at the shape underneath…and their posture is often of an awkward wallflower (albeit one with bite if provoked)… Indeed a fashion enigma that deserves to be explored a bit more!
