OOAK SCARLETT Barbie Doll – Because redheads have more fun!

scarlett barbie

Her hair is repurposed from a Strawberry Shortcake doll & is still lightly scented. Strands are a dreamy mix of red & pink. I’m super happy with the end result!

The doll head was Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse…a rarish doll that I managed to recover after being drawn on heavily with black biro around the eyes. Her hair had been hacked close to the scalp. I never thought I would get rid of the biro so I didn’t take a ‘before’ photo – but here she is prepped for rerooting. Hair has been removed and scalp painted red.

I like her slightly vapid wide-eyed look with rooted lashes…its not been used before on Barbie except for the Life in the Dreamhouse doll-line.

I finished off her look with some intense green to contrast her hair.

The dress is from a Hillary Duff Fashion Fever green & brown fashion pack & is one of my favs. Cute shoes with pom poms are from Fashionistas Cutie Swappin Styles Wave 2.

Jewellery is from Bratz.

Chair is from Barbie Dream Furniture Wicker Living Room Set (1983).

BROOKE SHIELDS FASHION DOLL / BLUE LAGOON PROJECT

brooke-shields-doll-blue-lagoon

I got this doll in a second hand lot years ago and knew instantly who it was…Brooke Shields….

One of my all time favorite movies as a young teenager was Blue Lagoon (1 & 2) and in fact I still have a copy of it in my DVD library. While overall panned by critics it has held its place in the hearts of many as a classic coming-of-age-movie.

For me its enduring place in my heart is also for the way a ‘Garden of Eden’ tale is woven into its fabric. The seculsion from society has allowed these two children to grow up retaining their innocence. Theirs is a simple life free from the pressures of everyday life that comes with being part of a ‘civilized’ society. And while I will admit it is of course grossly romantised….it has some very relevant points to make about civilization.

Anyway, since having this doll (in rather poor condition)…I dreamed of being able to turn her into the Blue Lagoon doll of my dreams….so after being rebodied, full hair re-root, partial face repaint, custom shirt & bag, some very cute props and some water misting….I think I finally have it!

Monster High GLOOM & BLOOM Cleo De-Nile

monster-high-doll-cleo-denile-gloom-bloom

Rare fashion doll…I never even saw her on the shelves even though I purchased two of the Gloom & Bloom dolls new at K-Mart…Maybe she was an exclusive for a different store.

I luckily found this doll in a bulk lot missing everything except some jewellery…later found her dress…knowing I was never going to be able to find or purchase her shoes with ankle flower accessories I finally decided to make my own as I had a spare set of the flowers from Jane Boolittle.

Anyway, decided to go all out and repaint a few of her other accessories too. Not sure where the gold flower in her hair was from (posssibly Lagoona?) and her shoes were from a different Cleo…I think the gold tied in nicely. At least she is now is display condition and can find her place on the shelves with the other monsters ;o)
