Some fun with Black & White Swimsuit Barbie….

So I got a Black & White Swimsuit Barbie 2014 Reproduction in a doll bundle in great condition with original bathers, shoes and earrings…cool…except one hand was damaged with a finger snapped off. One would assume a sad face in normal circumstances…but I was quite happy as I finally had an excuse to rebody this classic doll.

I had originally intended just to put her head on an articulated modern Barbie body and have some fun with her swimsuit and then some other clothes…but I had a very pale curvy articulated body spare and just throught…”why not? let’s see what she looks like a little chunky!”.

I ended up using a few different backgrounds as she was so pale she looked a little strange in the usual tropical scenes I like to do for the swimsuit gals.

Thoughts…to be honest…I thought I was being a bit cheeky with this…but she is really growing on me in this body…I think she feels more natural and perhaps a little more middle-aged…maybe that’s that’s why I’m starting to empathise with her new looks…so I might keep her like for a while and explore some more possibilities with her.

The only criticism I have for the curvy bodies is that the hip joints aren’t as poseable and that the feet are half flat and slightly wider which makes it really difficult to find shoes for…something I’m sure Mattel did on purpose so that she couldn’t wear skinny Barbie’s shoes.
